The Jets will have some coaching help at the Senior Bowl. - Two Senior Bowl Minority Fellowship coaches from historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) will join the Jets on the field, in meetings and in player evaluations. According to the Jets’ website, the goal of this new initiative is to “connect HBCU coaches with NFL decision-makers in hope that it leads to future career opportunities.” - Morgan State head coach Tyrone Wheatley and South Carolina State linebackers coach/defensive coordinator Jonathan Saxon will work with the Jets during the week leading up to the Senior Bowl. - The Jets and Lions were picked to coach each team at the Senior Bowl, but with a bit of a twist. Head coaches Robert Saleh and Dan Campbell will only serve in advisory roles, while the assistants and coordinators will take on bigger jobs. For the Jets, tight ends coach Ron Middleton will be the head coach, linebackers coach Mike Rutenberg will be the defensive coordinator, and quarterbacks coach Rob Calabrese will be the offensive coordinator. - Here are some things to know about Wheatley and Saxon ahead of Senior Bowl week:
