A former Jets quarterback is getting a big promotion. - Kevin O’Connell, currently the Rams’ offensive coordinator, is expected to be the next head coach of the Vikings, per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport. The deal can’t be finalized until after the Super Bowl, in which the Rams are playing the Bengals. News of O’Connell’s impending hire came after news broke Wednesday that Jim Harbaugh is returning to Michigan. - O’Connell has spent the last two years as Sean McVay’s offensive coordinator. He has not been the Rams’ play-caller, but Los Angeles boasted a top-10 offense in 2021, Matthew Stafford’s first season with the team. - O’Connell was with the Jets from 2009-2010 and again in 2011.
