Former Jets QB Mark Sanchez had a lot of meme-able moments during his time in New York. - Aside from the Butt Fumble, the most obvious is the hot dog incident. For those that need a refresher: Sanchez was seen eating a hot dog on the sideline during the Jets’ 38-0 win over the Raiders in 2009. The snack made national headlines, and it left the Raiders angry years later. - Sanchez recently said that he meant no disrespect. Appearing on Good Morning Football, he explained that he was so stressed and nervous after losing the previous three games that he hadn’t eaten before the match with the Raiders. So, when the Jets went up big, he asked for some food to fill his stomach. Sanchez tried to hide the hot dog after a concession worker handed one to him, but the broadcast crew found it anyway. - - IMPORTANT: @Mark_Sanchez told the hot dog story on @gmfb pic.twitter.com/gRrklgbZIp - — New York Jets (@nyjets) February 7, 2022 - - - For all the fuss that was made, it was a pretty innocuous moment. Yet it remains one of the running jokes tied to Sanchez’s career. At least he’s able to laugh about it 13 years later. - Despite the big win, Sanchez didn’t have a great game that day. The Jets ran the ball 54 times for 316 yards and four touchdowns, mainly with Thomas Jones and Shonn Greene. Sanchez finished with 143 yards and one passing touchdown while going 9-16. He also had a rushing touchdown. - - List - - Zero first-round QBs drafted from 2009-16 still with original team - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Email - - - - - Sign up - - - - - - - - Like this article? - Sign up for the Jets Wire email newsletter to get our top stories in your inbox every morning - - - - An error has occured - - - Please re-enter your email address. - - - - - - Thanks for signing up! - - - You'll now receive the top Jets Wire stories each day directly in your inbox.
