- - - A couple of ex-Jets quarterbacks have a chance to win a Super Bowl this Sunday. - Rams quarterback John Wolford will backup up starter Matthew Stafford, while Rams offensive coordinator Kevin O’Connell will be on the sideline in Los Angeles. Both spent time with the Jets as players, though neither played a regular-season game for New York. - Wolford spent time with Gang Green most recently, signing as an undrafted free agent out of Wake Forest in 2018. He played in the team’s preseason finale that year against the Eagles before the Jets waived him. Wolford went on to play for the Arizona Hotshots of the Alliance of American Football in 2019 before the league folded. Wolford has been with the Rams since 2019. While he has only appeared in four regular-season games, he started for an injured Jared Goff in Los Angeles’ Week 17 game and Wild Card matchup in 2020. - O’Connell spent more time with the Jets but made just as minimal of an impact on the franchise. The Jets traded a 2011 seventh-round pick to the Lions for O’Connell in 2009 and named him a team captain before a game against the Patriots that season. New York released and claimed him twice over the next two years before he signed with the Chargers prior to the 2012 season. O’Connell began his coaching career three years later with the Browns in 2015. He joined the Rams as the team’s offensive coordinator in 2020 after three years in Washington. - - List - - 6 players in Super Bowl 56 the Jets should target in free agency - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Email - - - - - Sign up - - - - - - - - Like this article? - Sign up for the Jets Wire email newsletter to get our top stories in your inbox every morning - - - - An error has occured - - - Please re-enter your email address. - - - - - - Thanks for signing up! - - - You'll now receive the top Jets Wire stories each day directly in your inbox.
