The Jets need receiving help. Could they find it in one of their former players? - Robby Anderson, who signed with the Panthers in 2020 after four years with the Jets, would prefer to land back in New York if Carolina decides to trade him, according to the Daily News’ DJ Bien-Aime. Anderson feels he has unfinished business in New York and likes what he’s seen from Zach Wilson, per Bien-Aime. - Would the Jets want Anderson back, though? It’s hard to say. Joe Douglas admitted early in the 2020 season that he made a mistake letting Anderson sign elsewhere, but that doesn’t mean he wants Anderson back. Anderson’s fit in Mike LaFleur’s offense is up for debate after a down season in 2021. - Anderson proved to be a solid receiver in 2020 after posting 1,096 yards on 95 receptions with Teddy Bridgewater, but he saw his production cut in half in 2021 with Sam Darnold, P.J. Walker and Cam Newton under center. Anderson only caught 53 balls for 519 yards and five touchdowns this past season. He had seven drops. - The Jets would have to give up something to trade for Anderson – but that’s not the big issue here. Anderson would likely only garner a late-round pick in any deal with the Panthers. But the 28-year-old comes with a $10 million base salary, which is a lot for someone who would likely be the Jets’ No. 3 receiver behind Corey Davis and Elijah Moore. - So, as much as Anderson may be interested in reuniting with the Jets, that doesn’t mean the Jets should bring him back to New York. - - List - - 8 wide receivers the Jets should avoid in free agency - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Email - - - - - Sign up - - - - - - - - Like this article? - Sign up for the Jets Wire email newsletter to get our top stories in your inbox every morning - - - - An error has occured - - - Please re-enter your email address. - - - - - - Thanks for signing up! - - - You'll now receive the top Jets Wire stories each day directly in your inbox.
