The Jets found themselves a new go-to tight end in free agency, signing C.J. Uzomah to a three-year, $24 million deal. - The former Bengal will get $15 million guaranteed, per Over The Cap. Uzomah’s 2022 cap hit will be $4.7 million. Uzomah has a strong chance of staying with the Jets through at least the second year of his contract, as $7 million of his $8 million 2023 base salary is guaranteed. - Uzomah’s deal pays an average annual salary of $8 million, which ranks 16th among tight ends. - The 29-year-old enjoyed a career year in 2021, totaling 49 receptions, 493 yards and five touchdowns. Uzomah added 15 catches for 146 yards and a score during the Bengals’ run to the Super Bowl. - Uzomah gives the Jets and Zach Wilson a formidable threat at the tight end position, something they lacked during the quarterback’s rookie season.
