The Jets upgraded the offensive line in free agency, but that doesn’t mean Joe Douglas won’t look at draft prospects in the trenches. - Mississippi State tackle Charles Cross is a name to watch at the top of the draft after he said that the two teams he’s heard from the most are the Jets and Giants, according to 247Sports’ Robbie Faulk. - Cross is a 6-foot-5, 310-pound lineman who allowed just two sacks at left tackle for the Bulldogs in 2021. He earned at least an 84 Pro Football Focus grade in run- and pass-blocking and finished with an 83.2 zone-blocking grade. - The issue with Cross isn’t his skill set. Rather, it’s his position. - The Jets don’t need a left tackle with Mekhi Becton and George Fant set to battle it out for the starting job, and Cross last played right tackle in 2019, where he only saw four of his 22 snaps on the year. - Cross is a great prospect and could be a great NFL offensive lineman, but the Jets would be better suited to draft a more versatile player like N.C. State’s Ikem Ekwonu. - - List - - 5 things to know about new Jets CB D.J.
