The Jets signed former Cowboys DE Bradlee Anae to a reserve/future contract on Wednesday. - David Canter, Anae’s agent, first announced the news. It didn’t take long for Anae to confirm the move. - - Congratulations to @gsefootball client @BradleeAnae on signing with @nyjets - — David Canter (@davidcanter) January 19, 2022 - - - - #TakeFlight - — Bradlee Anae (@BradleeAnae) January 19, 2022 - - - A fifth-round pick out of Utah in 2020, Anae was one of the nation’s most productive pass rushers in college. He tallied 14.5 sacks between his sophomore and junior seasons before nearly matching that total with 13 as a senior. He also topped the Pac-12 with 62 pressures in his final collegiate season. - However, Anae was considered a raw prospect in terms of transitioning to the NFL, and he faced stiff competition for playing time in Dallas. With DeMarcus Lawrence and Randy Gregory headlining a deep defensive line, Anae played in just 11 games over two seasons for the Cowboys and rarely appeared on defense. - The Hawaii native had two tackles and a quarterback hit over four games and 50 defensive snaps in 2021. - The Jets are hoping that Anae can impact a less-formidable defensive front. New York recorded just 33 sacks in 2021. - - List - - 3 notable free agents the Jets shouldn't re-sign - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Email - - - - - Sign up - - - - - - - - Like this article? - Sign up for the Jets Wire email newsletter to get our top stories in your inbox every morning - - - - An error has occured - - - Please re-enter your email address. - - - - - - Thanks for signing up! - - - You'll now receive the top Jets Wire stories each day directly in your inbox.
