The Jets were one of four teams that tried to claim ex-Packers DL Kingsley Keke, but New York came up short. - The Jets, Cowboys, 49ers and Texans all tried to claim the 2019 fifth-round pick, per ESPN’s Field Yates. Houston ultimately landed the 25-year-old pass rusher on Thursday. - Keke did not play in the Packers’ final three games of the season and was released without much explanation. He was a healthy scratch in Week 16 and spent the last two weeks of the season battling COVID-19 and illness. Green Bay head coach Matt LaFleur didn’t provide any detail following Keke’s release, simply stating it was a “tough decision” on Thursday, per Packers Wire. - Keke recorded 2.5 sacks and a career-high 24 total pressures over 12 games and 393 defensive snaps this season. He had four sacks for Green Bay in 2020. - Keke was not the first unproven but promising pass rusher the Jets have shown interest in since the season ended.
