After interviewing Jerod Mayo and Rich Bisaccia in the last week, the Las Vegas Raiders are continuing their search for their next head coach. The latest candidate to be considered by the Raiders is Todd Bowles of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. - According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Raiders have requested permission to speak with Bowles regarding their head coaching vacancy. That comes just days after the Buccaneers were eliminated from the playoffs. - Bowles has been the defensive coordinator of the Buccaneers for the past three seasons and has done an excellent job of slowing down elite quarterbacks (such as Patrick Mahomes in the Super Bowl) in the past. - He also has head coaching experience as he was hired by the Jets in 2015 before being relieved of his duties in 2018. His career head coaching record is 26-41, but the thought is that he could be a much better head coach the second time around. - Bowles is just 58 years old and has been a coach in the NFL since 2000. He’s only worked on the defensive side of the ball but excels at coaching secondary play. He is widely regarded as one of the best defensive minds in the NFL and his players love him for it. - Of the three coaches that the Raiders have/will interview, Bowles is the most experienced and qualified for the job. It’s tough to say if he is the favorite, but it would make a ton of sense if he were hired for the job. - - Gallery - LOOK: Best images from Raiders Week 18 win over Chargers - - - - - - view 79 images - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Email - - - - - Sign up - - - - - - - - Like this article? - Sign up for the Raiders Wire email newsletter to get our top stories in your inbox every morning - - - - An error has occured - - - Please re-enter your email address. - - - - - - Thanks for signing up! - - - You'll now receive the top Raiders Wire stories each day directly in your inbox.
