The 49ers are in an interesting spot going into the 2022 draft. - They won’t have a first-round pick going into the three-day event after trading their 2022 and 2023 first-round choices to the Dolphins in the deal to move up to No. 3 overall last season. While they may not need a first-round pick, they do need to hit on some young talent to help occupy some of the holes on their roster. - Cost-controlled talent is vital for an NFL franchise looking to extend its Super Bowl window, but that’s especially true for a 49ers club that’s already loaded with high-priced talent. The good news for San Francisco is they’ll have plenty to work with in the middle rounds, and the Draft Wire showed how the 49ers might be able to address some of their needs in a three-round mock draft where they pick just twice. - They should go into the draft with much more Day 2 ammo than one second and one third-round pick though.
