All eyes are on one particular matchup in Super Bowl LVI – a battle that pits a proven superstar against one of the best young receivers in the game. Jalen Ramsey will be tasked with slowing down Ja’Marr Chase, along with the Bengals’ other talented wideouts – namely Tyler Boyd and Tee Higgins. - Darious Williams and David Long Jr. will need to step up, as well, but Ramsey’s ability to cover receivers one-on-one helps the Rams eliminate a team’s top target. - It remains to be seen how the Rams will deploy Ramsey, but regardless, they have a tough matchup with Cincinnati’s wideouts. Ramsey has been impressed with the play of the Bengals’ receivers, even saying he’s been watching them since they were in college. - “I think they’re really good, one of the best trios in football right now,” he said Friday. “I’ve been a fan of all of them, honestly even when they were in college I was watching them. I thought they were really good and what they’ve done in the league has been really, really good, as well. They’ve all been balling. They all have special, unique talents and they have a good connection with their quarterback and good rhythm within their offense. Got a lot of respect for them, young guys coming into the league early and ballin’ like that, a lot of respect for ‘em.” - When it comes to Chase, in particular, Ramsey echoed what he said about the group as a whole. He was asked how to limit Chase’s yards after the catch, which make him so dangerous, and his response was short and sweet.” - “Tackling. It can just be that simple. Tackle well, that’s how you limit yards after the catch,” he said. “Like I said, I respect him. I think he’s a good receiver. I was a fan of his game when he was at LSU. I thought he was a baller. Thought he’s done well. Look at what he’s done this year. He’s been ballin’. He’s made history for that franchise. This is a big game for him in Year 1, but it is what it is. I gotta hold up my end, as well. It’ll be fun.” - Raheem Morris and Sean McVay will devise a plan for Ramsey in the secondary, but it shouldn’t surprise anyone that they have the utmost confidence in Ramsey to match up with the rookie wideout. - Morris called Ramsey “one of one” and would put him on any receiver in the history of the NFL. - - "Jalen is one of one. I would put him on anybody in the history of our game. We're going to dictate the terms that day." — Raheem Morris when asked if Jalen Ramsey would cover Jamarr Chase one-on-one or if they would double him. #RamsHouse #SBLVI - — Michael J. Duarte (@michaeljduarte) February 4, 2022 - - - Ramsey should expect to play in the slot throughout the game, as he has all season. But with Chase lining up outside a bunch, he’ll also need to play the boundary – which he did for most of his career prior to this season. - How the Rams manage to cover the Bengals’ receivers could decide the outcome of this game next Sunday. - - List - - 9 early Super Bowl storylines for Rams vs. Bengals - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Email - - - - - Sign up - - - - - - - - Like this article? - Sign up for the Rams Wire email newsletter to get our top stories in your inbox every morning - - - - An error has occured - - - Please re-enter your email address. - - - - - - Thanks for signing up! - - - You'll now receive the top Rams Wire stories each day directly in your inbox.
