Eric Weddle took a chance in January when he came out of retirement to join the Rams for their postseason run. After being out of the game for two years, he wanted to take one last ride in hopes of winning a Super Bowl ring. - He and the Rams did just that on Sunday night, though it didn’t come without some pain. Weddle left the game in the first half after a tackle attempt on Joe Mixon, holding his shoulder. He still returned and finished the game, but it turns out he tore his pec and will need surgery. - He made it very clear that he’s “re-retiring,” sailing off into the sunset as a Super Bowl champion. - - #Rams S Eric Weddle told reporters that he tore his pec, will have surgery soon… and “Yes, I'm re-retiring.” - Quite a ride. - — Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) February 14, 2022 - - - Weddle led the Rams with nine tackles in the NFC title game against the 49ers, and he followed that up with another five tackles in the Super Bowl – including a stop 1-yard short of the first-down marker on the Bengals’ final drive, which eventually set up the fourth-and-1 that sealed the game for the Rams. - He’s probably in some pain, but the glory of being a champion should take some of the sting away. - - List - - Odell Beckham Jr., Rams players celebrate Super Bowl title on Twitter - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Email - - - - - Sign up - - - - - - - - Like this article? - Sign up for the Rams Wire email newsletter to get our top stories in your inbox every morning - - - - An error has occured - - - Please re-enter your email address. - - - - - - Thanks for signing up! - - - You'll now receive the top Rams Wire stories each day directly in your inbox.
