During the Los Angeles Rams’ routing of the Arizona Cardinals on Monday night, they lost two key players to injuries in the first half. Andrew Whitworth injured his knee on the first offensive snap, and although he was able to return, he missed the entire second half. - David Long Jr. also hurt his knee in the first half and was unable to return, though he made an impact already with a pick-six. - Sean McVay didn’t have an update on either player after the win, but he met with reporters Tuesday and clarified each of their statuses. Whitworth is day-to-day and underwent a scan, which the Rams are waiting for the results on. - The initial feedback on Long’s knee injury was positive, with McVay saying it “looks like he’s going to be OK.” That’s encouraging for the Rams’ backup corner, who played well in Monday’s win. - - Injury updates from Sean McVay: - OL Andrew Whitworth got his ankle and knee rolled up on and is day-to-day. Waiting on results of scan he was getting today. - McVay also said initial feedback on CB David Long Jr.'s knee is positive. - — Stu Jackson (@StuJRams) January 19, 2022 - - - Joe Noteboom filled in for Whitworth at left tackle in the second half and the offense didn’t miss a beat. He’s been a solid replacement every time Whitworth has missed time, which should have the Rams feeling good about the state of their offensive line. - Hopefully Whitworth can recover quickly, especially considering the Rams have less time to prepare for the Buccaneers after playing on Monday night. - - - - - - - - - - - - Email - - - - - Sign up - - - - - - - - Like this article? - Sign up for the Rams Wire email newsletter to get our top stories in your inbox every morning - - - - An error has occured - - - Please re-enter your email address. - - - - - - Thanks for signing up! - - - You'll now receive the top Rams Wire stories each day directly in your inbox.
