As the Tampa Bay Buccaneers made their epic run to the Super Bowl last season, many expected offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich and defensive coordinator Todd Bowles to get far more attention as head-coaching candidates than they ended up receiving. - Still, it made sense that other teams didn’t want to wait to interview them as they continued to advance in the playoffs, and risk missing out on other candidates. - The rules were different this year, allowing coaches like Leftwich and Bowles to interview during the playoffs, and interview they did. Both coordinators got attention from multiple teams, leading many Bucs fans to assume that at least one of them, if not both, would need to be replaced for the 2022 season. - Yet here we sit, on the day of the conference title games, and those vacant head-coaching spots continue to fill up with other names. - Leftwich seemed to be the no-brainer pick for the Jacksonville Jaguars, the team that made him a top-10 draft pick back in his playing days, but they don’t seem to know what’s good for them. - Bowles interviewed with the Las Vegas Raiders, Minnesota Vikings and Chicago Bears. The Bears went in another direction, and Bowles doesn’t appear to be the front-runner for either of the other teams. - These developments could obviously be for Tampa Bay’s gain, as an offseason that’s sure to have plenty of big questions might give them a pleasant surprise in the form of not having to replace either of their coordinators. - - List - - Tom Brady retirement: Tracking all the latest reports and rumors - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Email - - - - - Sign up - - - - - - - - Like this article? - Sign up for the Bucs Wire email newsletter to get our top stories in your inbox every morning - - - - An error has occured - - - Please re-enter your email address. - - - - - - Thanks for signing up! - - - You'll now receive the top Bucs Wire stories each day directly in your inbox.
