Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady is officially retiring after 22 seasons in the NFL, making his announcement via social media Tuesday morning. - Bucs head coach Bruce Arians shared his feelings on the occasion in the team’s official story, making it clear that while he wishes they could have had more times with the GOAT, the last two years were more than enough. - - “Tom joined us as the greatest football player of all time, and he quickly showed everyone in our organization what that meant,” Arians said. “He set a standard and helped create a culture that took our team to the mountaintop. It has been an honor to be his head coach for the past two seasons. I wish it didn’t have to end, but few players have the opportunity to leave the game on their own terms. Even fewer can do it while playing at an elite level. Tom is the exception. I have a deep appreciation and respect for what he has done for our franchise, and I wish him and his family nothing but the best in this next chapter of life after football.” - Brady and Arians presided over the most successful two-year run in franchise history, with a 29-10 record (including playoffs), and the second Super Bowl victory in franchise history. - It was a quick stop by comparison for Brady, whose legendary NFL career spanned more than two decades, but he clearly left his mark on the Bucs in many meaningful ways. - - List - - Tom Brady is retiring (for real this time), and Twitter is reacting accordingly - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Email - - - - - Sign up - - - - - - - - Like this article? - Sign up for the Bucs Wire email newsletter to get our top stories in your inbox every morning - - - - An error has occured - - - Please re-enter your email address. - - - - - - Thanks for signing up! - - - You'll now receive the top Bucs Wire stories each day directly in your inbox.
