Feb 18, 2022

Ever since Tom Brady announced his retirement after 22 seasons in the NFL, fans and analysts alike have been bouncing between conspiracy theories about what led to his decision, to predictions about how long he’ll stay away before making a dramatic comeback. - Brady made it clear that spending time with his family, and also working on his other business interests, were the biggest reasons for his decision to finally walk away from the game after more than two decades. - Some league insiders have suggested that there were internal factors with Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers that also contributed to that decision. - Former NFL player and current sports host Rich Ohrnberger is the latest to report some version of that theory: - - Apparently, while Arians was rehabbing the achilles in the early mornings, offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich and Brady would work on the week's game plan. Arians would later come in and take the red pen to work they'd done. The QB and OC felt undermined, there was tension. - — Rich Ohrnberger (@ohrnberger) February 18, 2022 - - - If that’s true, it’s easy to understand both Brady and Bucs offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich being frustrated with Arians and the game-planning process. The Bucs fell short in their goal to repeat as Super Bowl champions this year, but most chalked that up to key injuries. - Who knows if we’ll ever find out the whole truth about what led to Brady’s decision, and if his relationship with Arians or anyone else within the franchise contributed to his departure. - For now, we’ll just have to wonder what could have been. - - List - - 2022 NFL draft: Potential targets for Bucs at every position of need - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Email - - - - - Sign up - - - - - - - - Like this article? - Sign up for the Bucs Wire email newsletter to get our top stories in your inbox every morning - - - - An error has occured - - - Please re-enter your email address. - - - - - - Thanks for signing up! - - - You'll now receive the top Bucs Wire stories each day directly in your inbox.
