The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been one of the NFL’s best teams over the past two seasons, posting a 29-10 record (playoffs included) and winning a Super Bowl. - Much of that success was thanks to the presence of quarterback Tom Brady, who announced his retirement after 22 seasons earlier this month. - How will Brady’s departure impact Tampa Bay’s standing amongst the rest of the teams in the NFL heading into the 2022 season? - In the latest NFL power rankings from Touchdown Wire, Nick Wojton has the Bucs tumbling all the way to the No. 14 spot, and it’s just because the GOAT is missing: - By now, you know the Buccaneers won’t have Tom Brady as the quarterback retired. However, the Bucs’ needs only just start there. Wide receiver Chris Godwin, tight end Rob Gronkowski, interior defensive lineman Ndamukong Suh, edge defender Jason Pierre-Paul and others need to be re-signed as well. That’s why Tampa has this drop in many polls. - There are other key free agents the Bucs could lose this offseason, as well, led by cornerback Carlton Davis III and Pro Bowl center Ryan Jensen. Losing Brady could make it harder to convince many of those free agents to return, unless the Bucs are able to swing a trade for another star quarterback. - That seems unlikely, and Tampa Bay could indeed experience a significant drop if they’re forced to go with Blaine Gabbert or Kyle Trask at quarterback in 2022. - To check out the full list of way-too-early power rankings for the 2022 NFL season at Touchdown Wire, click here. - - List - - Who do Bucs fans want to replace Tom Brady? - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Email - - - - - Sign up - - - - - - - - Like this article? - Sign up for the Bucs Wire email newsletter to get our top stories in your inbox every morning - - - - An error has occured - - - Please re-enter your email address. - - - - - - Thanks for signing up! - - - You'll now receive the top Bucs Wire stories each day directly in your inbox.
