- - - - Bucs are expected to franchise tag WR Chris Godwin before Tuesday's deadline, per source. - — Tyler Dragon (@TheTylerDragon) March 7, 2022 - - - The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are expected to place the franchise tag on star wide receiver Chris Godwin for the second straight year, per Tyler Dragon of USA TODAY Sports. - Godwin played the 2021 season on the one-year franchise tender, and the Bucs have long maintained that keeping him in Tampa Bay long-term was a top priority this offseason. Though he suffered a season-ending knee injury in Week 15, Godwin still finished the season as the Bucs’ leader in both receptions and receiving yards. - Having just turned 26 years old, Godwin is one of the NFL’s most complete receivers, and in the prime of his career. If he plays the 2022 season on the franchise tag, he’ll make around $19 million. - The Bucs have until Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET to use the tag, but would still be able to negotiate a long-term deal with Godwin up until July 15th. - - List - - NFL free agency: Who should be Bucs' top priority? - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Email - - - - - Sign up - - - - - - - - Like this article? - Sign up for the Bucs Wire email newsletter to get our top stories in your inbox every morning - - - - An error has occured - - - Please re-enter your email address. - - - - - - Thanks for signing up! - - - You'll now receive the top Bucs Wire stories each day directly in your inbox.
