We've used our franchise tag on @CGtwelve_.#GoBucs - — Tampa Bay Buccaneers (@Buccaneers) March 8, 2022 - - - As expected, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have placed the franchise tag on wide receiver Chris Godwin for the second straight year, per multiple reports. - The two sides are expected to continue working on a long-term contract extension, but the franchise tag will ensure that Godwin spends at least the 2022 season back in Tampa Bay. - A third-round pick out of Penn State in the 2017 NFL draft, Godwin quickly developed into one of the most complete pass-catchers in the NFL. Despite suffering a torn ACL in Week 15 last season, he still finished the year as the team leader in both receptions and receiving yards. - Godwin just turned 26 years old, and is a critical part of Tampa Bay’s offense. Don’t be surprised if the two sides eventually hammer out a long-term deal that keeps the star wide receiver with the Bucs for the foreseeable future. - - List - - NFL free agency: Who should be Bucs' top priority? - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Email - - - - - Sign up - - - - - - - - Like this article? - Sign up for the Bucs Wire email newsletter to get our top stories in your inbox every morning - - - - An error has occured - - - Please re-enter your email address. - - - - - - Thanks for signing up! - - - You'll now receive the top Bucs Wire stories each day directly in your inbox.
