The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were hoping to get running back Leonard Fournette from a hamstring injury for Sunday’s wild-card playoff game against the Philadelphia Eagles, but Saturday’s deadline passed for activating him off injured reserve, and there he remained. Tampa Bay had already ruled out Ronald Jones II for Sunday’s game, and now will be without their top two running backs. Fournette practiced all week, and looked primed to make his return after missing the last three games. So, what changed? Bucs head coach Bruce Arians told NFL Network’s Sara Walsh that Fournette simply still wasn’t back to 100 percent, and they wanted to be cautious: Just spoke w/Bruce Arians about Leonard Fournette and why he won t return today: It s just a little tweak (hamstring). He wasn t full Speed when he really opened up And tried to push off a couple times. It caught him, So we re just going to be very cautious with him. #GoBucs — Sara Walsh (@Sara_Walsh) January 16, 2022 - The Bucs will rely on Ke’Shawn Vaughn, Le’Veon Bell and Giovani Bernard to handle the running back duties in Sunday’s game, and hope they’ll get the chance to unleash “Playoff Lenny” in the next round of the playoffs.
