The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are moving on to the next round of the NFL playoffs after a dominant win over the Philadelphia Eagles in Sunday’s wild-card game. Tampa Bay was firing on all cylinders in every phase for most of the game, building a 31-0 lead halfway through the third quarter before a pair of late touchdowns by the Eagles made the game look much closer than it ever was. Tom Brady completed 29 of his 37 passes for 271 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while the Bucs forced three takeaways and kept the Eagles off the scoreboard until the fourth quarter. With both Leonard Fournette and Ronald Jones II out due to injury, Ke’Shawn Vaughn and Giovani Bernard combined for over 100 yards rushing, and each found the end zone. Mike Evans led the Bucs in receiving, catching nine passes for 117 yards and a touchdown. Rob Gronkowski hauled in five passes for 31 yards and a touchdown of his own. Mike Edwards led the Bucs with nine tackles, and had an impressive interception in the end zone that preserved Tampa Bay’s shutout just before halftime. Tampa Bay’s defense benefited from the return of previously injured starters Lavonte David, Shaq Barrett and Jason Pierre-Paul, holding the Eagles’ top-ranked rushing attack to just 95 yards on the ground. The Bucs will now await the rest of the playoff results to see who they’ll host in the divisional round.
