As the Tampa Bay Buccaneers look ahead to the 2022 offseason, one of the biggest questions they’ll face will be at both offensive and defensive coordinator, where they could lose both Byron Leftwich and Todd Bowles to head coaching positions elsewhere. - Leftwich and Bowles have both been interviewed by multiple teams for the top spot on their respective coaching staffs, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see them land such a gig. - Who might the Bucs pick to replace them? - Head coach Bruce Arians didn’t give any names, but he’s already working on contingency plans, were he to lose his top assistants. - “Yeah, I’ve gone through a number of different scenarios in the last few weeks, just in case, and we’ll have to wait and see,” Arians said Monday. - One thing Arians did confirm is that he would likely take over offensive play-calling duties himself if the event Leftwich departs. - “There would be a really good chance, yes,” Arians said of that possibility. - Arians had previously given up those duties for multiple reasons, including his own health, but said the situation would look different this time around were he to take back the reins in that department. - “It would be a number of different things just with who is on the staff and what we’re doing, [how] we’re compiling and doing the meeting each day and all those things that go with it,” Arians said. “I wouldn’t be doing all of that. So, it’s just a matter of who and what happens in the next few weeks, how we put that staff together.” - One no-brainer move would be to make assistant head coach/run game coordinator Harold Goodwin the offensive coordinator, as he held the same position for Arians for four seasons with the Arizona Cardinals. Goodwin also makes plenty of sense as an eventual successor for Arians, whenever he decides to retire. - - List - - Tom Brady talks about potential retirement decision - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Email - - - - - Sign up - - - - - - - - Like this article? - Sign up for the Bucs Wire email newsletter to get our top stories in your inbox every morning - - - - An error has occured - - - Please re-enter your email address. - - - - - - Thanks for signing up! - - - You'll now receive the top Bucs Wire stories each day directly in your inbox.
