Mike Florio and Peter King took issue with Washington Commanders’ owner Daniel Snyder’s statement following Thursday’s Congressional roundtable where former employees testified regarding unprofessional and sexual harassment in the Washington workplace environment. - Florio indicated that Snyder in making his denial made an issue of these allegations supposedly occurring 13 years ago. Florio was of the opinion that it sounded like Snyder was attempting too hard to deny the allegations when voicing the allegations are 13-years old. Florio also reminded viewers that Snyder’s denial was made when he was not under oath, but the accusers were under oath when making their accusations. - Where Florio made more substantive ground was pointing out the NFL’s investigation conducted by Beth Wilkinson inexplicably lacks a written report. Without a written report one cannot focus upon clarified accusations against specifically named individuals. - Peter King directly took issue with the NFL, expressing, “they got away with not issuing any report on this.” King spoke of the absurdity that the NFL issued a 200-page report on inflated footballs by the New England Patriots in a 2015 report, yet when allegations were raised regarding sexual harassment, the NFL did not desire a written report? “The whole thing just smells,” said King alluding to the NFL’s desire to not have a written record. He called the NFL’s action of not having Wilkinson submit a written report “stonewalling.” - Florio voiced that Roger Goodell “is pedaling crap, bastardizing the reality of this,” that the NFL is using the privacy of the victims “as a human shield” in all of this. He pointed out the NFL used great effort to dig into the Jon Gruden language because they actually wanted Gruden’s statements revealed. Florio called the inconsistency “bull crap.” - Florio conveyed, “I feel like this could go very badly for Daniel Snyder, he could be the sacrificial lamb.” - He expressed that the NFL owners might feel the mounting pressure to act in some way to show they are in charge and hold one of their fellow owners accountable. - - - - - - - - - - - - - Email - - - - - Sign up - - - - - - - - Like this article? - Sign up for the Washington Wire email newsletter to get our top stories in your inbox every morning - - - - An error has occured - - - Please re-enter your email address. - - - - - - Thanks for signing up! - - - You'll now receive the top Washington Wire stories each day directly in your inbox.
