Now that the Super Bowl is over, fans can officially begin to speculate about which quarterbacks will play where in 2022. The Washington Commanders desperately need a quarterback and will attempt to pry Russell Wilson from the Seattle Seahawks, but that feels more unlikely by the day. - Aaron Rodgers is likely returning to Green Bay, and Deshaun Watson doesn’t appear to be a match for the Commanders. While Washington would love to have Watson, his legal situation still complicates things at the present time. And would he accept a trade to the Commanders? - With the top names out of the way, that leaves players like Jimmy Garoppolo, Jameis Winston, Marcus Mariota and Mitchell Trubisky as options for Washington. None of those names sound too enticing for fans, and acquiring Garoppolo would cost Washington draft pick compensation. - Ben Standig of The Athletic wrote a story last week where he spoke with an unnamed executive who suggested Washington could part with the No. 11 overall pick for Garoppolo. The executive pointed out he didn’t believe Garoppolo was worth the No. 11 pick, but the Commanders could “justify” the trade if they didn’t think any of the rookies were worth the 11th selection. - Washington fans were apoplectic when this story made the rounds on Twitter Monday. - The Commanders should absolutely not trade a first-round pick for Garoppolo, but that’s not to say a trade shouldn’t be made — if the price is right. - Now, let’s review the pros and cons of Washington potentially trading for Garoppolo. -
