The Washington Commanders lost one of the greatest and most important players in the franchise’s 90-year history Saturday when Charley Taylor died at age 80. - Taylor was a first-round pick out of Arizona State by Washington back in 1964 and he would go on to play 12 seasons for the franchise. After his playing career, Taylor worked as a scout in the front office before spending 13 seasons on the sidelines as an assistant coach under Joe Gibbs. - Taylor finished his NFL career with 649 receptions for 9,110 yards and 79 touchdowns. Before Taylor moved to wide receiver, he was an outstanding running back. As a runner, Taylor rushed for 1,488 yards and 11 touchdowns. - He was the 1964 NFL rookie of the year, a member of the franchise’s Ring of Fame and 1984 inductee into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. - Here are just some of the top photos from Taylor’s amazing career with Washington:
