The Washington Commanders seemingly can’t do anything right lately. First, there are the never-ending investigations into owner Daniel Snyder and the club’s ugly past. Then, you have the rebranding, which didn’t go over too well with the majority of fans. - In Washington’s defense, no name — at least initially — would appease the entire fan base. We are in 2022, where everyone likes to complain on social media. The key for the franchise was to crush the uniforms and logo. - Reviews were mixed on Washington’s uniforms, while many fans liked Washington’s crest logo that featured each of the franchise’s championship seasons. However, there was a glaring issue. On the crest, Washington chose the year when the franchise won the Super Bowl as the date instead of the actual season in which the team won the championship. - Fans complained. Team president Jason Wright spoke of why the team initially designed the crest, citing the actual NFL record books, but said he was open to changing things. - Wright was a man of his word, as the Commanders officially announced the change to the crest Tuesday. - - We heard you loud and clear - Going forward, our crest will reflect our Super Bowl victories using the year from that regular season pic.twitter.com/irndw0DyaK - — Washington Commanders (@Commanders) February 22, 2022 - - - This was expected, but it was nice to see Washington right the wrong quickly. - The Commanders took a lot of heat on this one. Some of it fair, some perhaps not. The organization often cannot get out of its own way, but some hold every past decision against the new regime. In this instance, the fans were right. Wright has made it clear he will listen to the fans. This time, he listened to the fans and acted swiftly and appropriately. - For Washington to escape some of this negativity, it needs to win consistently. Sooner rather than later, preferably. There’s also the ownership issue, but that’s another story. - The organization took a positive step on Tuesday, and everyone should commend it. Now, the Commanders should do right by those fans who ordered the sweatshirts with the crest promised but received a sweatshirt without the crest. The team has been in a giving mood recently, so why not attempt to make those fans happy who ordered something they did not receive — at $75 apiece. - - Hmmm… what I purchased vs what arrived… are @Nike and the @Commanders listening to fans about the messy crest issue? @HogsHaven pic.twitter.com/iBoyGiQzkF - — Kenneth (@terp11) February 11, 2022 - - -   -   - - - - - - - - - - - - Email - - - - - Sign up - - - - - - - - Like this article? - Sign up for the Washington Wire email newsletter to get our top stories in your inbox every morning - - - - An error has occured - - - Please re-enter your email address. - - - - - - Thanks for signing up! - - - You'll now receive the top Washington Wire stories each day directly in your inbox.
