ESPN breaking the Washington Commanders trade for Carson Wentz, resulted in some thought-provoking quotes from the panelists. - - Adam Schefter: “The quarterback carousel is spinning wildly right now. I think Washington didn’t want to be too late to the party… Most importantly, the Colts are not paying any of Carson Wentz’ salary, so they are freed of that financial obligation. It now falls under Washington’s responsibility.” - Dan Orlovsky: “The reality for Carson Wentz is he has one season to save his career as a starting quarterback in the NFL.. It has to be shocking to him, staggering to him, that this has happened to him. Whether the writing was on the wall or not that they (Colts) moved on from him… We saw a (Wentz) performance last year that for a 12-week stretch was pretty darn good… Off the field, what is not clicking for Carson Wentz when it comes to his relationships in the locker room? When it comes to his leadership style, there has to be something going on in that for the Indianapolis Colts to say, ‘You know what, we have had enough’… I still believe he is a starter in this league, but this season is a make it or break it year for him.” - Robert Griffin: “Is Carson Wentz better than Taylor Heinicke? Yes. The big thing that separates him from Taylor Heinicke is the interceptions. He only had 7, where Heinicke chucked up 15 of those bad boys… For the Colts, we can praise Chris Ballard for how he unloaded Carson even though everyone knew they didn’t want him anymore… The Commanders are a better team than they were a couple of hours ago, but they are in the same spot in their division.” - Laura Rutledge: “When everyone thinks about Carson Wentz it is hard not to imagine him in that Jacksonville game (season finale). The pure frustration of watching that game is very fresh in a lot of people’s minds.” - - - - - - - - - - - - Email - - - - - Sign up - - - - - - - - Like this article? - Sign up for the Washington Wire email newsletter to get our top stories in your inbox every morning - - - - An error has occured - - - Please re-enter your email address. - - - - - - Thanks for signing up! - - - You'll now receive the top Washington Wire stories each day directly in your inbox.
