Though they have sponsorships with 26 other NFL franchises, Anheuser-Busch announced Friday they have withdrawn from their working relationship with the Washington Commanders. - Attempting to make a clear distinction between the Washington Commanders organization owned by Daniel Snyder and fans of the Washington Commanders, Anheuser-Busch’s official statement to the Washington Post expressed, “We remain fully committed to Washington football fans, and we look forward to continuing our long-term partnership with the NFL and our other 26 team partners to create meaningful experiences and connections for fans across the country”. - Washington Wire reported February 17 that “Medliminal a medical billing compliance company centered in Manassas, Virginia, announced in an email they will not be renewing their sponsorship pact for this upcoming season”. - The “Boycott Dan” website emailed Medliminal asking it to take action against the Commanders. “Boycott Dan” has been vocal in voicing its disapproval of Snyder after he was accused specifically of inappropriate behavior toward female employees. Even more, the website takes another step, requesting fans to “Tell Corporate Sponsors of the Washington Commanders: Drop Dan or We Drop You.” - There is no question that we are witnessing a public pressure whether direct pressure such as that from Boycott Dan, or perhaps an indirect pressure, rising from increasing awareness of the negative publicity regarding Dan Snyder’s ownership of the franchise. - Washington fans and for that matter anyone else has been invited by “Boycott Dan” to contact sponsors of the Commanders warning the sponsors, “Drop Dan, or we drop you.” - John Keim of ESPN in his Commanders coverage reminded readers, “In June 2020, major sponsors, including FedEx and Nike, said they would stop sponsoring the team if the franchise’s former name was not changed. Shortly thereafter, the team announced it would retire the name and its associated Native American imagery.” - Consequently, one can’t help but conclude that Snyder will likely continue to experience these types of things, as the NFL investigation continues regarding the workplace inappropriate sexual behavior and culture. - The Washington Commanders released a statement on the sponsorship, per Michael Phillips of the Richmond Times-Dispatch: - - Commanders statement on no longer being sponsored by Anheuser-Busch - Full story:
