There was a lot of criticism directed at the Washington Football Team when they announced the reveal of the new name on Feb. 2 would occur on NBC’s “Today Show.”While some of the criticism was warranted, part of Washington’s thought process did make sense. Revealing your new name, logo and uniform on such a high-profile show less than two weeks before the Super Bowl is brilliant. The goal for Washington is to get as much publicity and as many eyeballs as possible on the new logo before the Super Bowl to get the NFL world talking. But, yes, for a Washington team announcing its new identity in New York, it did rub some the wrong way. Now, Washington has announced further activities for its reveal week. On the day of the announcement, owners Daniel and Tanya Snyder, and team president Jason Wright, will be present at FedEx Field for a “name and brand reveal” press event with local media. There will be no fans at this event. Two days later, on Feb. 4. Washington announced “Park-N-Party” at FedEx Field, specifically in parking lots E and F.We want to celebrate our brand reveal with youCome out to @FedExField on 2⃣.4⃣.2⃣2⃣ to start our new era! @budlight— Washington Football Team (@WashingtonNFL) January 13, 2022This is part of the announcement from Washington’s official website:Join us for a fun-filled night celebrating the beginning of the next chapter for the Burgundy & Gold. This tailgate experience, sponsored by Bud Light, will feature exclusive team content, new team gear, alumni meet & greets, photo opportunities, firework show and more!Event tickets are $5 per vehicle and all proceeds will go to Washington Football Charitable Foundation programs that support the local community. In order to accommodate as many fans as possible, tickets purchases will be limited to one ticket per transaction. Each ticket will grant entry to one vehicle on event day. Youdo notneed to have a ticket for each person within the vehicle.Season-ticket holders can buy tickets for the event on Jan. 26, while the general public can purchase tickets on Jan. 28.Give credit to Washington for these events. This was likely already in the works when the team announced the reveal would happen on the “Today Show,” but, per the usual, some were overly critical of Washington initially.EmailSign upLike this article?Sign up for the Washington Wire email newsletter to get our top stories in your inbox every morningAn error has occuredPlease re-enter your email address. Thanks for signing up!You'll now receive the top Washington Wire stories each day directly in your inbox.
