This 2021 NFL season reminds us that 30 years ago Washington assembled its greatest team in franchise history, going 14-2 and racing through the playoffs to the Super Bowl XXVI championship and Vince Lombardi Trophy. - Week 15—Washington 20, Phoenix Cardinals 14— December 8, 1991 - Finding themselves down by 14 points, Washington battled back, defeating the Cardinals 20-14 at Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, Arizona. - After a scoreless first quarter, the Cardinals’ Johnny Johnson scored on runs from one and three yards for a 14-0 halftime lead. - Mark Rypien brought back Washington with two third-quarter touchdown passes of four yards to tight end Terry Orr and 17 yards to wide receiver Ricky Sanders, tying the score at 14-14 heading into the final quarter. - Chip Lohmiller added field goals in the final quarter from 42 yards and 27 yards for the game’s final 20-14 margin. - - Rypien finished 22-33, 256 yards, 2 touchdowns, no interceptions.
