Aaron Johnson is a former professional ice hockey player who played as a defenseman. He began his career in the Western Hockey League (WHL) with the Rimouski Oceanic in 2001. He played for the Oceanic for two seasons before being drafted by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the third round of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.

Johnson made his NHL debut with the Blue Jackets during the 2003-2004 season. He played in 12 games and recorded one assist. He spent the majority of the season with the Syracuse Crunch, the Blue Jackets' AHL affiliate.

Over the next few seasons, Johnson split his time between the Blue Jackets and the Crunch. He also played for the Edmonton Oilers, the New York Islanders, the Chicago Blackhawks, and the Boston Bruins. He played in a total of 291 NHL games and recorded 17 goals and 45 assists.

Johnson's best season in the NHL was the 2009-2010 season when he played for the Calgary Flames. He played in 61 games and recorded four goals and 13 assists. He also had a plus-minus rating of +10.

After the 2012-2013 season, Johnson signed a contract with the Swedish team Färjestad BK. He played in 52 games for the team and recorded four goals and 12 assists. He helped the team win the Swedish Hockey League championship.

Johnson returned to North America for the 2014-2015 season and signed a contract with the Nashville Predators. He played in 23 games for the Predators and recorded one assist. He also played for the Milwaukee Admirals, the Predators' AHL affiliate.

Johnson's last season as a professional hockey player was the 2015-2016 season. He played for the San Antonio Rampage, the Colorado Avalanche's AHL affiliate. He played in 53 games and recorded two goals and 11 assists.

Throughout his career, Johnson was known for his solid defensive play and his ability to move the puck up the ice. He was also a reliable penalty killer and played with a physical edge.
