Allen Leavell is a former American professional basketball player who played as a point guard. He was born on May 27, 1957, in Wichita, Kansas, and attended Wichita South High School. Leavell played college basketball at Oklahoma City University, where he was a standout player.

After college, Leavell was selected by the Houston Rockets in the third round of the 1979 NBA draft. He played for the Rockets for eight seasons, from 1979 to 1987. During his time with the Rockets, Leavell was known for his quickness and ball-handling skills. He was also a solid defender and a good passer.

Leavell's best season with the Rockets was in 1983-84, when he averaged 10.5 points, 4.5 assists, and 2.5 rebounds per game. He played a key role in helping the Rockets reach the NBA Finals that season, where they lost to the Boston Celtics.

In 1987, Leavell was traded to the Atlanta Hawks, where he played for two seasons. He was primarily used as a backup point guard during his time with the Hawks.

After retiring from basketball, Leavell worked as a financial advisor. He also served as an assistant coach for the Houston Rockets from 1992 to 1994.
