Alvin Robertson is a retired American professional basketball player who played in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for 10 seasons. He was born on July 22, 1962, in Barberton, Ohio, and attended the University of Arkansas.

Robertson was selected seventh overall by the San Antonio Spurs in the 1984 NBA draft. He quickly established himself as one of the best defensive players in the league, earning the NBA Defensive Player of the Year award in 1986. He was also named to the NBA All-Defensive First Team four times and the NBA All-Defensive Second Team twice.

In addition to his defensive prowess, Robertson was also a solid offensive player. He averaged 14.0 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game over his career. He was named an NBA All-Star in 1986, 1987, and 1991.

In 1993, Robertson was traded to the Pistons in exchange for Sean Elliott. He played two seasons with the Pistons before being traded to the Raptors in 1995. He played one season with the Raptors before retiring from the NBA in 1996.
