Bert Collyer ran a journalistic empire during the 'Roaring Twenties' in Chicago. A flamboyant figure, he published a scandal sheet for 'Jazz Age' gamblers. His newspaper, Collyer's Eye, was the bible for horse track bettors and sports gamblers, expanded to include stock market tips. Controversy sold copies, and Collyer was always in the eye of the storm. His greatest accomplishment was disclosing the World Series baseball Black Sox scandal in 1919.
