Maynard was selected by the New York Giants in the third round of the 1997 NFL Draft. He played for the Giants for four seasons, from 1997 to 2000, before signing with the Chicago Bears in 2001. He played for the Bears for 10 seasons, from 2001 to 2010, and was a key player on the team that reached Super Bowl XLI in 2007.
