Clay Matthews is a former American football linebacker who played in the National Football League (NFL) for 12 seasons. He was born on May 14, 1986, in Los Angeles, California, and attended Agoura High School in Agoura Hills, California. Matthews played college football at the University of Southern California (USC) and was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the first round of the 2009 NFL Draft.

Matthews quickly established himself as one of the best linebackers in the league, earning six Pro Bowl selections and being named First-Team All-Pro once during his career. He was also a key member of the Packers' Super Bowl XLV championship team in 2011, recording 3.5 sacks and a forced fumble in the postseason.

Throughout his career, Matthews was known for his versatility and ability to play multiple positions on defense. He primarily played outside linebacker but also saw time at inside linebacker and defensive end.
