Cody McLeod is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player who played as a left winger in the National Hockey League (NHL). He was born on June 26, 1984, in Binscarth, Manitoba, Canada. McLeod started his hockey career playing for the Portland Winterhawks in the Western Hockey League (WHL) from 2001 to 2004. He was then drafted by the Colorado Avalanche in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft in the fifth round, 140th overall.

McLeod made his NHL debut with the Avalanche in the 2007-2008 season, where he played in 49 games and scored two goals and two assists. He quickly became known for his physical play and willingness to fight on the ice. McLeod's role on the team was primarily as a fourth-line enforcer, providing energy and toughness to the team.

Over the next few seasons, McLeod continued to play for the Avalanche, becoming a fan favorite for his hard-hitting style of play. He also became known for his work in the community, regularly participating in charity events and giving back to the community.

In 2017, McLeod was traded to the Nashville Predators, where he played for one season before being traded to the New York Rangers in 2018. He played in 31 games for the Rangers before being traded back to the Predators in 2019.

McLeod announced his retirement from professional hockey on September 6, 2019, after playing in 769 NHL games over 12 seasons. He finished his career with 71 goals, 55 assists, and 1,359 penalty minutes.
