David Lee is a retired American professional basketball player who played in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for 12 seasons. He was born on April 29, 1983, in St. Louis, Missouri, and attended the University of Florida, where he played college basketball for the Florida Gators.

Lee was selected by the New York Knicks in the first round of the 2005 NBA draft, and he played for the Knicks for five seasons. During his time with the Knicks, Lee established himself as a reliable scorer and rebounder, averaging 13.0 points and 9.6 rebounds per game during his tenure with the team. He was named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team in 2006 and was selected to the NBA All-Star Game in 2010.

In 2010, Lee was traded to the Golden State Warriors, where he played for five seasons. During his time with the Warriors, Lee continued to be a productive player, averaging 16.7 points and 9.3 rebounds per game during the 2012-13 season. He was named to the NBA All-Star Game for the second time in 2013.

Lee was a key contributor to the Warriors' success during the 2014-15 season, when the team won the NBA championship. Although he missed much of the regular season due to injury, Lee played an important role in the playoffs, providing valuable minutes off the bench and helping to spark the team's offense.

After the 2014-15 season, Lee was traded to the Boston Celtics, where he played for one season before being traded to the Dallas Mavericks. He played one season with the Mavericks before being waived in 2017.

Throughout his career, Lee was known for his high energy, strong work ethic, and ability to score and rebound. He finished his career with averages of 13.5 points and 8.8 rebounds per game.
