David Legwand is a former professional ice hockey player who spent 16 seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL). He was born on August 17, 1980, in Detroit, Michigan, and grew up playing hockey in the Detroit area. Legwand was drafted second overall by the Nashville Predators in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft, making him the first player ever drafted by the Predators.
Legwand played his entire NHL career with the Predators, except for brief stints with the Detroit Red Wings and Ottawa Senators towards the end of his career. He was known for his versatility as a forward, able to play both center and wing positions.
