Dont'a Hightower is a former American football linebacker who played in the National Football League (NFL) for nine seasons. He was born on March 12, 1990, in Lewisburg, Tennessee, and attended the University of Alabama, where he played college football for the Crimson Tide.

Hightower was selected by the New England Patriots in the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft, and he quickly became a key player on their defense. He played in all 16 regular-season games as a rookie, starting 12 of them, and helped the Patriots reach the Super Bowl, where they lost to the New York Giants.

Over the next several seasons, Hightower established himself as one of the best linebackers in the NFL. He was a versatile player who could rush the passer, stop the run, and drop back into coverage. He was also a leader on and off the field, and he was respected by his teammates and coaches for his work ethic and dedication.

Hightower played a crucial role in the Patriots' success during his time with the team. He helped them win three Super Bowls (XLIX, LI, and LIII) and was named to the Pro Bowl twice (2016 and 2019). He was also a First-Team All-Pro selection in 2016.

In addition to his success on the field, Hightower was known for his philanthropic work off the field. He was involved in several charitable organizations, including the American Diabetes Association and the Boys and Girls Club of America.

After the 2019 season, Hightower opted out of the 2020 season due to concerns about the COVID-19 pandemic. He returned to the Patriots for the 2021 season but was limited by injuries and played in only six games.

In March 2022, Hightower announced his retirement from the NFL. He finished his career with 505 tackles, 28 sacks, 10 forced fumbles, and two interceptions. He was widely regarded as one of the best linebackers of his generation and will be remembered as a key part of the Patriots' dynasty.
