Dražen Petrović was a Croatian basketball player who was widely regarded as one of the best European players of all time. He began his career in his native Croatia, playing for the KK Cibona Zagreb team from 1980 to 1985. During this time, he won three consecutive Yugoslav League championships and was named the Yugoslav League MVP in 1984 and 1985.

In 1985, Petrović moved to Spain to play for Real Madrid, where he won the Spanish League championship in 1987. He then moved to the Italian League, where he played for the Italian team, Virtus Bologna, from 1988 to 1991. During this time, he won two Italian League championships and was named the Italian League MVP in 1990.

In 1989, Petrović made his debut for the Croatian national team and was part of the team that won the gold medal at the 1990 FIBA World Championship. He was also part of the Croatian team that won the silver medal at the 1992 Summer Olympics.

Petrović then moved to the NBA, where he played for the Portland Trail Blazers from 1991 to 1993. During this time, he was named an NBA All-Star in 1993 and was the first European player to be named to the All-NBA First Team in 1993.

Petrović tragically died in a car accident in 1993, at the age of 28. He was posthumously inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2002. He is remembered as one of the greatest European players of all time, and his legacy continues to live on.
