Fernando Tatis was a professional baseball player who played in the Major Leagues for over a decade. He was born in the Dominican Republic in 1975 and began his professional career in 1992 when he was signed by the Texas Rangers as an amateur free agent.

Tatis made his Major League debut with the Rangers in 1997, but it wasn't until he was traded to the St. Louis Cardinals in 1998 that he began to make a name for himself. In his first season with the Cardinals, Tatis hit .298 with 34 home runs and 107 RBIs, earning him a spot on the National League All-Star team.

Tatis continued to play well for the Cardinals over the next few seasons, but injuries began to take their toll on him. He missed most of the 2001 season with a shoulder injury and was traded to the Montreal Expos in 2004.

Despite his injury history, Tatis was able to put together a solid season for the Expos in 2005, hitting .291 with 13 home runs and 46 RBIs in just 84 games. He signed with the Baltimore Orioles in 2006 but struggled at the plate, hitting just .216 in 92 games.

Tatis returned to the Dominican Republic to play winter ball in 2006 and was signed by the New York Mets for the 2007 season. He played well for the Mets, hitting .297 with 11 home runs and 47 RBIs in 96 games.

Tatis continued to play for the Mets over the next few seasons, but his playing time was limited due to injuries and the emergence of younger players. He retired from baseball in 2010 with a career batting average of .265, 113 home runs, and 448 RBIs.

Despite his injury history, Tatis was known for his versatility on the field. He played multiple positions, including third base, first base, and the outfield, and was a solid defensive player.

Tatis was also known for his clutch hitting. He hit two grand slams in the same inning against the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1999, becoming the only player in Major League history to accomplish the feat. He also hit a game-winning home run in the 12th inning of Game 2 of the 1999 National League Championship Series against the Atlanta Braves.

Overall, Fernando Tatis had a solid career in the Major Leagues, despite being plagued by injuries. He was a versatile player who could hit for power and was known for his clutch hitting.
