Greg Monroe is a former professional basketball player who played in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for over a decade. He was born on June 4, 1990, in New Orleans, Louisiana, and attended Helen Cox High School in Harvey, Louisiana. Monroe was a highly touted high school basketball player and was ranked as one of the top prospects in the country.

After graduating from high school, Monroe attended Georgetown University, where he played college basketball for two seasons.
