Hap Day was a Canadian professional ice hockey player and coach who had a long and successful career in the National Hockey League (NHL). He was born in Owen Sound, Ontario in 1902 and began his hockey career in the Ontario Hockey Association (OHA) in 1924.

Day was a defenseman who was known for his physical style of play and his ability to shut down opposing players. He was a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs for most of his career, playing for them from 1925 to 1937. During his time with the Maple Leafs, Day was part of three Stanley Cup-winning teams in 1932, 1942, and 1945. He was also named to the NHL All-Star team seven times.

Day was also a successful coach, leading the Maple Leafs to two Stanley Cup championships in 1947 and 1948. He also coached the Detroit Red Wings and the Chicago Black Hawks.

Day was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1961 and was named one of the 100 greatest NHL players of all time in 1998. He was also inducted into the Ontario Sports Hall of Fame in 1998.
