J.J. Daigneault is a former professional ice hockey player who played in the National Hockey League (NHL) for over 16 seasons. He was born on October 12, 1965, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, and began his hockey career playing for the Verdun Eperviers of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) in 1982.

Daigneault was drafted by the Vancouver Canucks in the first round of the 1984 NHL Entry Draft, and he made his NHL debut in the 1984-85 season. He played for the Canucks for three seasons before being traded to the Philadelphia Flyers in 1987.

Daigneault played for the Flyers for four seasons and was a key member of their defense during that time. He helped the team reach the Stanley Cup Finals in 1987 and was named to the NHL All-Rookie Team in 1988.

In 1991, Daigneault was traded to the Montreal Canadiens, the team he grew up rooting for as a child. He played for the Canadiens for six seasons and was a part of their Stanley Cup championship team in 1993. Daigneault was known for his solid defensive play and his ability to contribute offensively, scoring 10 or more goals in four different seasons.

After leaving the Canadiens in 1997, Daigneault played for several other NHL teams, including the St. Louis Blues, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Minnesota Wild. He retired from professional hockey in 2000 after playing in over 900 NHL games and scoring 89 goals and 247 assists.

Following his playing career, Daigneault became a coach and has worked in various roles for several NHL teams, including the Philadelphia Flyers, Montreal Canadiens, and Vancouver Canucks. He is currently an assistant coach for the AHL's Laval Rocket, the Canadiens' affiliate team.

Throughout his career, Daigneault was known for his hard work, dedication, and leadership on and off the ice. He was a respected player and teammate and was admired by fans and fellow players alike.
