Jared Boll is a retired professional ice hockey player who spent the majority of his career playing for the Columbus Blue Jackets. He was born on May 13, 1986, in Charlotte, North Carolina, and began playing hockey at a young age. Boll played junior hockey for the Lincoln Stars of the United States Hockey League (USHL) before being drafted by the Blue Jackets in the fourth round of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.

Boll made his NHL debut with the Blue Jackets during the 2007-2008 season and quickly established himself as a physical player who was not afraid to drop the gloves. He became a fan favorite in Columbus for his toughness and willingness to stand up for his teammates. Boll played for the Blue Jackets for nine seasons, appearing in 518 games and recording 28 goals, 38 assists, and 1,195 penalty minutes.

In addition to his time with the Blue Jackets, Boll also played for the Anaheim Ducks and the San Jose Sharks. He was traded to the Ducks in 2015 and played two seasons in Anaheim before being claimed off waivers by the Sharks in 2017. Boll appeared in a total of 579 NHL games over his career, scoring 31 goals and adding 39 assists.

Boll's style of play was not without controversy, as he was suspended multiple times throughout his career for hits to the head and other dangerous plays. However, he was also known for his charitable work off the ice, including his involvement with the Blue Jackets' "Boll Foundation," which raised money for various causes in the Columbus area.

Boll announced his retirement from professional hockey in 2019, citing a desire to spend more time with his family. He currently resides in Columbus with his wife and children and remains involved in the local hockey community.
