Jerry Sichting is a former professional basketball player who played in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for nine seasons. He was born on November 29, 1956, in Martinsville, Indiana, and attended Purdue University, where he played college basketball.

Sichting was selected by the Golden State Warriors in the fourth round of the 1979 NBA Draft, but he did not make the team. He then played for the Albany Patroons of the Continental Basketball Association (CBA) for two seasons before signing with the Indiana Pacers in 1981.

Sichting played for the Pacers for two seasons before being traded to the Boston Celtics in 1983. He played for the Celtics for five seasons and was a member of the team that won the NBA championship in 1984. Sichting was known for his shooting ability and was a reliable backup point guard for the Celtics.

After leaving the Celtics in 1988, Sichting played for the Portland Trail Blazers for one season before finishing his career with the Charlotte Hornets in 1990. He retired with career averages of 6.8 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game.

After retiring from playing, Sichting became a coach. He served as an assistant coach for several NBA teams, including the Minnesota Timberwolves, Washington Wizards, and Orlando Magic. He also coached at the college level, serving as the head coach at Marian University in Indianapolis from 2006 to 2011.

Sichting is remembered as a solid role player who contributed to the success of the teams he played for. He was a reliable shooter and a smart player who made good decisions on the court.
