Jimbo Covert was a professional American football player who played for the National Football League (NFL) for seven seasons. He was a two-time Pro Bowl selection and was named to the NFL 1980s All-Decade Team.

Covert was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and attended the University of Pittsburgh, where he was an All-American offensive tackle. He was drafted by the Chicago Bears in the first round of the 1983 NFL Draft.

Covert was an immediate starter for the Bears and was named to the Pro Bowl in his first two seasons. He was a key part of the Bears' offensive line that helped the team reach the Super Bowl in 1985. He was also part of the Bears' offensive line that allowed the team to lead the league in rushing in 1985 and 1986.

Covert was plagued by injuries throughout his career, which caused him to miss several games. He retired after the 1989 season due to a neck injury.

Covert was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2003. He was also inducted into the Chicago Bears Hall of Fame in 2011.

Covert was known for his strength, size, and quickness. He was an excellent pass blocker and was also a great run blocker.
