Joe Nieuwendyk is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player who had a successful career in the National Hockey League (NHL). He was drafted in the 1985 NHL Entry Draft by the Calgary Flames and went on to play for the Flames, Dallas Stars, New Jersey Devils, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Florida Panthers.

Nieuwendyk was a two-time Stanley Cup champion, winning with the Flames in 1989 and the Stars in 1999. He was also a three-time winner of the Frank J. Selke Trophy, awarded to the NHL's best defensive forward, and a two-time winner of the King Clancy Memorial Trophy, awarded to the player who best exemplifies leadership qualities on and off the ice.

Nieuwendyk was known for his offensive abilities, scoring 564 goals and 562 assists in 1,257 career NHL games. He was also a clutch performer, scoring the game-winning goal in the third period of Game 6 of the 1999 Stanley Cup Finals.

Nieuwendyk was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2011 and his number 25 was retired by the Flames in 2014. He currently serves as the general manager of the Dallas Stars.
